Mangaluru: Man beaten up by public for troubling minor girl

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Nov 30: A man was beaten up by the public for allegedly troubling a minor girl by giving his number and repeatedly coaxing her to call him.

The incident occured at Boliyar under Konaje police station limits on Saturday November 29.

The accused, Rajesh Nayak (35) has been arrested and booked under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

It is alleged that Rajesh used to follow the girl in his bike, and throw chits at her with his phone number written on them, and coax her to call him. When he refused to give up, the girl, a student of 10th standard from a different community, informed her family members about him.

When the locals came to know about it, they caught hold of Rajesh on Saturday and beat him up. He was later handed over to the police.

I believe, there are quite many such incidents which are never reported, never brought to light.Girls are troubled a lot by maniacs loitering in streets, swachh bharat should be applied on these 'criminals'. Eradicate them.

I can see many supporting the act. When there is a law...it has to be followed.

He should have been booked under the case, which he as booked and Judiciary should give the punishment term.

Public don't have any rights to behave in this manner. If all who commented below are support the beatings.

Then what is the necessity of JUDICIARY?

why you call them meat eaters?
As per your leaders teachings, they are not allowed to live in this country, and if they pay back then you have a problem.
History repeats,No wonder it repeates before it becomes history.
You have a problem when they tease you, and now you tease them and say they eat meat?
Police always comes late so this is common.

Don't pay attention to Mr. Roshan Braganza's comments. In all cases that have been reported in Daiji, he always had derogatory remarks about women irrespective of the fact that there could be two sides of the case. Here he is trying to slide the blame on the girl. Is the public mad to simply thrash the man. They have witnessed this nuisance suffered by the girl, and knowing that the police may or may not take appropriate action, took the situation in their hands and gave the culprit a taste of their wrath before handing him over. Mr. Braganza belongs to the stone age where the women were footstools of men and whatever man does was right. He is yet to be civilized and grow up. so pardon his unsavoury comments against the fair sex.

the other right winger moral police are public too!! Your stand should be " those who took law into their hands and beat the miscreaants, must also be arrested" isnt it?

the thing here is if he is a hindu who indluges in this act, people support his beating and even cops are swift in action and he gets arrested/...

but if it is any other secular community, then right wingers have to go after them, protest and then too cops hesitate to arrest! isn't it?.. that is where we feel, Law and order is failing and these cops are baised!

Good that this guy is beaten! for playing around with minor girl! ....

I remember, one 56 year old guy had done molestation of a minor in bus, right wingers from that village just called a for a bandh and people were crying foul...!!

recently, when a rickshaw guy in udupi was questioning his passengers, he was beaten and a sexual molestation case is lodged

In nandita case, her parents were blamed and also right wingers for asking justice were condemned..

in Gangolli, a journalists was beaten black and blue and his bike was burnt! ..

This is different from moral policing because here the man was troubling the minor girl (without her consent) which is a criminal activity and the public took the right action against him. In moral policing the boy and girl move together on their own will which is not a criminal activity and still the public beat them because they are from different community.

Here are few examples of “Moral Policing” in Mangalore:
    1. Pub attack.
    2. Attack, when a boy and a girl of different communities speak, etc.
Whereas in this case people rushed to support an innocent girl, who was harassed by a goon.
May be he belongs to an organization, that can be found out by police. We trust them.

This shows law and order situation in Karnataka....
HM says, rapists will not be punished...
CM says, it is media propaganda to brand Karnataka as Rape State...

Law and Order gone to dogs...
At present best HM candidate is Parameshwara, but he is sidelined.

I wish the punishment you recommend for the crime committed by the accused should be applicable to all others who have committed similar crime.
