Mangaluru, Nov 26: Falnir Health Centre, a speciality clinic and day care project undertaken by Landmark Infratech, was launched in a befitting ceremony at Falnir here on Wednesday November 26.

Dr Sayyed Mohammed K C welcomed the guests with bouquets. U T Khadar minister for health and family Welfare, MLA J R Lobo, along with G Shabeer of Landmark Infratech inaugurated the ceremony and released the brochures.

Addressing the gathering, U T Khadar said, "It is a new venture in Mangaluru, so I congratulate and wish the management all success. In foriegn countries people wait for months to get appointment with the doctors. We have to concentrate on small nations which spend plenty of money for treatment. We have to promote health tourism, so that Mangaluru becomes a health hub in the near future."

"Prevention is always better than cure, but despite prevention there is sickness, we should have the best hospitals to cure it. The doctors must cultivate efficiency and commitement in the profession which is the need of the hour. I am ready to render all the support from my side for the growth of heathcare in the city."

MLA J R Lobo said, "Mangaluru has plenty of health facilities and other amenities for a population that is less than five lacs. We have to promote health tourism in the coming days. In India we have better facilities at lesser costs. We have to work towards making Mangaluru a health hub in future, just like how Bengaluru is the IT hub. I wish all success to Falnir Health Centre. Let it become a role model for others."

Indeed a good venture. However it should not be a case of the number of doctors exceeding the number of patients. What is extremely necessary is a parking area for the patients to park their cars. If you go to some Hospitals it is a common sight for patients to go round and round to find parking slots.

What is of prime importance is affordable consultation and affordable treatment.

I just hope there is parking facility. Falnir area is already choked with haphazardly parked vehicles of patients who visit the many clinics located there. Buildings with polyclinics very recently built also do not have parking space (except for a very few right in front of the building which are reserved for the doctors themselves). The people's representatives gracing such events should take note of this.
