Arsenal fan threw wine at Manchester United bench

London, Nov 24 (IANS): An Arsenal supporter was arrested after allegedly throwing red wine at the Manchester United bench during the two clubs' English Premier League football match at the Emirates Stadium.

The incident occured as United celebrated the opening goal of their 2-1 win Satuday and led to an angry exchange between some of the club's substitutes and fans in the seats behind them.

Arsenal took steps to identify the culprit, calling on the stewards in attendance and monitored the CCTV footage.

They have promised to liaise with the Metropolitan Police and ban any individual whose guilt is proven.

The wine splashed some of the United personnel who were not amused with the incident.

It is still unclear whether United made an official complaint but it is believed that they are keen to resolve the matter.
