Mangaluru, Nov 24: In a daring attempt, thieves gained entry into jewellery store at Kadri after drilling a hole into an adjacent saloon. Unfortunately for them, a fuse blow saved the day, or rather, in this case, the night.

The incident was reported at Shilpa Jewellers in Kadri on the morning of Monday November 24. The theft took place during the night.

Sources said that the thieves first broke into an adjoining saloon, and drilled a big hole into the wall that separates it from the jewellery store.

The thieves then break open the safety locker that contained cash and gold in seven shelves.

Unluckily for the thieves, just as they opened the first shelf of the locker, the fuse blew off while trying to use the gas cutter and they could not continue their mission, said the owner of the jewellery store Narayana Achary.

They did however manage to get away with some amount gold. The police said that the exact value of the stolen gold could not be confirmed yet as the locker had got jammed because of the failed attempt. It is however understood that the quantity is far less than what might have been planned by the thieves.

Mangaluru east police arrived at the spot along with a canine squad and fingerprint experts.

So many things left behind, wont be tough to reach the culprits, unless any political party intervenes.

on a lighter note..... only one eye witness... Dhoni.

The place where the jewellery shop & the salon situates is the place where most of the BD/Rama Sene/VHP & other hindu outwing groups sitting place normally called as Adda for these youngsters.Police will definitely enquire the persons working in salon coz most of these small type goonda's go to that salon and most of the dealing happens from that salon and from the katte.I have 100%doubt on these unemployed youths.

It is good to know that the daring attempt to burgle a jewellery Stores was foiled because a fuse blew thus marring the attempt made by the burglars.

It is encouraging to see that the alert police came on time with the canine squad to help.

Rapes, road accidents, murders and now burglaries. Mangalore City which was once a Haven has now taken a different phase.

Hope Our Police Force will lend their support to the people of Mangalore and restore The City to its old glory.

It's a pity that such criminal acts have become more daring, bold and common these days due to the lax security & maintenance by the owners and even more lax attitude of the people... if we are ever-vigilant and take precautions we can prevent these things from happening in the future. There is no point in blaming either the north Indians or the local goons - the end result is the same - the culprits never get caught even if they get caught, the recovery chances are near zero, despite all the best efforts of the local police and the citizen in general. We are the victims of our own making...! So, we need to be alert all the time...

    What a mastermind.

We watch in movies such robberies but in reality it needs lot's of planning and courage.

Robbers must have taken technically experienced guys to break through so many hurdles.
