Mangalore, Nov 12: The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will organize a meeting to evolve developmental measures for the visually impaired in the district. This meet which is the first of its kind in DK district will be held in Don Bosco Hall on Dec 3.

Briefing the press on Saturday, Melwil Pinto said that an attempt will be made to deliberate on welfare of the visually impaired. He further expressed his concern about facilities not reaching the visually impaired in the district.

The NFB, Roman Catherine School for the Bind situated on the Kotekani road here has been providing free education, boarding and other facilities to visually impaired but has poor turnout. It has been functioning for the past 3 years, but has been underutilized as there are no students.

Pinto also observed that the visually impaired are not sent to schools and are deprived of these facilities. Awareness, he said is essential.
