Bangalore, Nov 11: The Education Department has scrapped English exams for Class III and IV as the students passing out from the class II will find it difficult to cope with the language.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti told this website's newspaper that students entering class III next year will not be familiar with the English subject.’ Students may find it difficult to clear the exams,’’ he said. However, the workbooks and textbooks for the class I, II and also Class III, IV will remain untouched, he said.

In a move, the department has stated that they will not help the students of the de-recognised schools to get admission in other schools. Now it is the responsibility of the parents to get admission for them. ‘‘Students can get admission in government aided schools but if the parents are keen on looking at English medium schools, we cannot help it,’’ he said.

On helping out the parents to provide admission for the students in nearby schools, the Minister, said that the matter would be discussed in the meeting. It may be noted that the government had de-recognised over 1,000 schools this year for violating the language policy. This had created panic and the government decided to extend the deadline to the next year.
