Mumbai, Nov 10: A slip of paper has changed the fortune of a sweeper from the city who has now turned crorepati after winning a lottery.
"No one in seven generations of my family has seen so much money. My children and my wife are the real crorepatis," said Girish.
"It was written in their destiny. It is their dream that is turning into reality," he added.
Firmly grounded
It took Girish Rs 20 a week and three and a half years to get lucky but that is not going to stop him from continuing with his job as a sweeper.
"There is no guarantee about money. It's here today and gone tomorrow. My job has seen me through some of my worst times," said Girish.
"Why should he give up his job? It's only because of his job that I have been able to feed my children," added Ranjana Rathore, Girish's wife.
For now Girish is still getting used to the flashlights but is already making plans to secure the future of his family.
"I want to buy a room for myself and my family. I want to invest money for my children's future and help my nieces, nephews and my extended family. I also want to donate to charity," said Girish.
From saving Rs 1500 to this flight of fancy, Girish's life is reaching a new high even as he tries to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
