Mangalore, Nov 9: Inter-primary and high school sports meets jointly organized by DK zilla panchayat public instructions department and Canara High Schools was inaugurated at Mangala Stadium here on Thursday November 9 morning.

Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) inaugurated the sports meet and also hoisted the flag.

Block Education Officer (BEO) Walter D'Mello presided over the inaugural function while H A Gopal, physical education inspector was the chief guest.

The large number of participants from various schools held march-past before the inaugural function.  After receiving the sports torch, the athletes took oath.

The valedictory of the sports meet will be held on Friday November 10 evening at 4.15.  U Ganesh Rao of Canara High School Association will preside over while former mayor Diwakar will be the chief guest.

S Umesh Malya, president of the sports event and K Subraya Nayak, secretary of the organizing committee were also present on the occasion.
