Udupi, Nov 8: The all-party meet on construction of dumping yard at Alevoor near here failed to arrive at any consensus. The meet was held at deputy commissioner's office here on Tuesday November 7.
Speaking on the occasion MLA K Raghupati Bhat said that it has been decided to construct a dumping yard at Alevoor as per the directives of the state government. "But the villagers need not worry as they will be relocated and those who live in the same area would be provided with special arrangements. Even the clean drinking water under the ADB project would be extended to Alevoor village," he said.
At this point, the opposition leaders Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA U R Sabhapati, MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, TP president Shyamala Sudhakar, district Congress president M A Gafoor said that if the residents agree for the project, then, they too do not have any problem.
But the people from Alevoor who were present at the meeting opposed the setting up of dumping yard at Alevoor. Though MLA and others tried to convince them, they did not. Finally the meeting ended without arriving at any consensus.
