Mangalore, Nov 7: The Delhi-bound farmers' rally reached the city on Tuesday November 7 morning. The rally held under the slogan "Save Farmers, Save Agriculture, Save Country" had begun in Kanyakumari on October 1.
Speaking on the occasion All-India secretary of Raitha Sangha S Varadraj said that globalizations and privatizations have pushed farmers to the backstage. The administration and the people are neglecting farmers while giving prime importance to modernization.
He said further said that farmers are worst hit by new pro-globalization policies. This has resulted in suicides of farmers in the last couple of years. Nearly 2 lac farmers have committed suicide in the last 9 years, he added.
Raitha Sangha state general secretary J C Bayya Reddy, president Yashwant Maroli, Yadav Shetty, Abraham Karkada, Ramchandra Uchil and others were present on the occasion.
