Bangalore, Nov 6: Lok Ayukta Police raided the office and house of R.Rameshappa, a senior KAS officer and the CEO of Khadi and Gramodyoga Board and seized assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore along with Rs. 5.5 lakh in cash.

Rameshappa, who was the Land Acquisition Officer in Bangalore Urban Development Authority was recently appointed as the CEO of Khadi and Gramodyoga Board. Police raided his office and house simultaneously following complaints from the public and seized assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Lok Ayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde, in a press meet, disclosed that cash, jewellery electronic gadgets, documents pertaining to lands were seized from Rameshappa.

Rameshappa was said to have accumulated assets 300 times more than his known sources of income. Police seized Rs. 5.5 lakh in cash,120 grams of gold, 10 kg of silver articles, eight watches worth Rs. 40,000 each, Indira Vikas Certificates of Rs. 2.5 lakh, Kisan Vikas Certificates of Rs. 1 lakh, a Maruti Swift and Scotch whiskey bottles worth Rs. 60,000.

Added to these,documents of 4000 sq.ft. sites, one each at Koramangala and NGFcolony and two flats, a house measuring 2800 sq.ft. in Padmana-bhanagar, 27 acres of agriculture land in Cheeranahalli in Chitradurga district and Rs. 10 lakh in Rameshappa's name in various banks were found, said Santhosh hegde.

Rameshappa was produced before the Special Civil and Sessions Court which remanded him to judicial custody.
