DVS shifted to law; inefficiency costs him Railway Ministry

New Delhi, Nov 10 (DHNS) : Complaints of inefficiency, failure to get a “grip” over the ministry and row over the increase of personal assets have cost D V Sadananda Gowda the high-profile Railway portfolio.

There were murmurs in the national capital’s political circle over the past month that Gowda might be shunted out, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “unhappy” with his performance. They came true after he was shifted to the less visible Law Ministry, which was being looked after as additional charge by Ravi Shankar Prasad.

There were reports that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had recently asked top Rail Bhavan officials not to entertain some businessmen from Mangaluru and Bengaluru who have been loitering in Rail Bhavan since Gowda became railway minister.

However, another minister from Karnataka — G M Siddeshwara — was appointed Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. The Davangere MP, who was Minister of State for Civil Aviation earlier, had pleaded with the BJP central leadership to give him a better portfolio.

Unhappy with Gowda

Though the dizzying rise of Sadananda Gowda — from starting his carrier as an advocate in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka to holding a coveted portfolio in the Modi Cabinet — surprised many, the prime minister had picked him for the job with high hopes that he could deliver better, as the government’s new thrust would be to vitalise the infrastructure sector, including high-speed rail and bullet trains.

However, government sources said the PMO was of the opinion that even after five months of appointment as railway minister, the former Karnataka chief minister failed to get a grip of the ministry.

The PMO is learnt to have recently pulled Gowda up after the Railways’ failure to handle the huge rush of passengers during Deepavali, and particularly travellers going to Bihar for Chhath pooja last month, which led to the death of a passenger at the Anand Vihar railway station at the national capital.

The increase of his personal assets also reportedly upset both Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. Despite Gowda putting up a strong defence, that it was due to purchase of a property after taking loans from a private bank, it is learnt that his bosses were not convinced with the explanation.

Sources said the Prime Minister’s Office was also of the impression that Gowda was unable to give more time to the railway ministry, particularly after his son became embroiled in a controversy when a Kannada starlet levelled allegations of rape and cheating against him.

Gowda has encountered some row or the other since his appointment as the railway minister. The National Democratic Alliance government had to face embarrassment when he did not attend a debate on the Railway Budget in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the last budget session.

Even the Rajya Sabha was briefly adjourned due to the railway minister’s absence, and members demanded action against him for ignoring House duty.

If he is the Son of Tulunadu, the people here were known for their self respect and integrity, he should have quit n resigned from cabinet rather accepting demotion. Its a disrespect to Tulunadu. The place once in 70 given the chance to BJP to establish their political journey in karnataka.I m sure he will not do.SHAMELESS will not have nerve of sense .

Although he was given the best of Ministry, most probably he was looking at quicker, more greener grass, which shows from the 100% increase in his income.
    Backfired!!!
Now he has LAW in his hand\pocket and can get out of all troubles in a jiffy, including his son's, that is if he knows how to handle...
Wonder if there is really any truth in that saying : Madiddunno....or problems children behaving badly..

I back him only because he is from Karnataka but he should work diligently to bring glory to Karnataka. So far it is other way around!!

Mr. Sandananda Gowda had no experience in the administration of the messed up Indian Railway system. Do you know the number of cabinet Ministers in
Mr. Modi's cabinet with solid experience in the portfolios assigned to them?

If Mr. Modi is giving jobs to the party members without having no experience in their assigned portfolios, then Mr. Modi will be simply doing the " hiring and firing" job.

DVS... HAD NO CAPACITY TO DRIVE RAILWAYS... IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS..

WINNING ELECTIONS IS DIFFERENT FROM ADMINISTRATION... RAILWAYS URGENTLY NEED PRIVATE / PUBLIC PARTICIPATION.

IT SHOULD BE THE PREFERRED MODE OF BOTH PUBLIC/GOODS TRANSPORT.

DVS IS FIT FOR SULLIA / PUTTUR POLITICS.

ANYTIME, SURESH PRABHU CAN DO BETTER..

IT IS HIGH TIME FOR BJP TO SEARCH FOR AN EDUCATED,CAPABLE,ACCEPTABLE PERSON FOR NEXT ELECTION...

    WE NEED RESULTS, NOT PROMISES.

see yogesh bhat, what is his contribution for mangalore ? he may be good person, but he is a failure.

YOGESH BHAT,LOBO MAM,PALEMAR,NALIN, FOREST MINISTER,OSCAR,JANNANNA, WORSHIPFULLLLL MAYOR,BAWA,KHADER, - all travel through PVS circle, ALAS, NOBODY THOUGHT THAT SIGNAL LIGHT WILL solve the confusion there...

last week i saw our forest minister was struggling his innova to cross his"bantwal cross road" due to traffic jam? are we civilized people or "forest"people? it is shame on him who won B C Road for decades... why cant he streamline B C road traffic? does he has any vision?

DVS or ramanath or anyone.. no plans at all. just winning elections, making money, inaugurating utsavas, useless fellows.

dear daiji readers, just think, irrespective of party, how useless are our elected people.

DVS COULD HAVE PLANNED SOMETHING FOR RAILWAYS, than commenting on karnataka governement.. tell me since 1994, DVS is winning," WHAT IS HIS CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATION?" - do you have answer DVS?

In Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district useless people won the Loka Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections. They won the elections without their ability, performance and work. They won the elections just on caste basis. The caste system is a great hell for us. An inefficient political candidate elected from caste basis system simply sitting in chair for five years without doing any work. But it is surprising that such waste bodies will win the next elections absence of performance. Remember that our politicians are not our well-wishers after winning the elections they give maximum support for diverting the rivers and providing the natural mineral water to the industries in Bangalore. Voter is a foolish person in our district. Can you people believe these words?

Sadananda Gowda had used twitter to comment about alleged scam at ATI Mysore. The accused, Dr. Amita Prasad, has joined as Head of Ganga Clean Up Mission in Delhi. Her Brother-in Law is in Railway Board and he collected specifics of businessmen, including a Mangalore Builder visiting the Ministry. Also, after the mishandling of rush after Diwali, Dr. Prasad a native of Bihar, got several BJP MPs from the state to complain about the PM.

Sadananda Gowda has now been relegated to the back office ministry. Also, Congress Party would put pressure for investigation into the rise in his assets, something he had led the charge against Dr. Prasad!

Mr. DVS being son of the soil, I expected him to give top priority for making Mangalore a separate division, thereby making it an important terminal in the state with direct connectivity to unconnected cities like Hubli, Belgaum, Pune, etc. The new Byndoor – Kasaragod train should have run towards Puttur – Subramanya. He seemed to have bowed heavily under Mallu pressure. There’s no doubt the instant abrupt rise in his assets may have other sources, given the fact that the PMO was not satisfied with his explanation.

DVS HAD A GOLDEN CHANCE TO MAKE A SEPARATE RAILWAY SECTOR FOR MANGALORE WHICH MANGALOREANS MOST AWAITED.BUT WHEN HE SAID HE CANT DO IT HE PROVED HIMSELF AS INEFFICIENT AND NO GRIP OVER THE RAILWAYS MINISTRY.THAT TIME ITSELF MANGALOREANS REALISED THEY CANT SEE ANOTHER GEORGE FERNADES IN HIM!!!.

    Dear DVS,

When saade saath shani comes, whatever you do, it wont help...:-(

You got stressed for son's wedding..
    Then your sister died...
    Mother too died....
Unnecessary blame for the property purchase...
Now change of Railway to Law...

But, when the "dasha" ends, whatever you touch (or do not touch) it becomes GOLD...

After the Saade Saath, saturn will do everything good before he leaves...

    Do not get disheartened...

Now DV Gowda come smiling at Mangalore saying that he tried to make separate railway division so he shunted out from his peak portfolio of railways by kerala lobby..Dont believe his LIE...He wont say becoz of his honest money doubling business model,he caught red handed and out. I ask simple question if he is honest enough..why didnt he ask his son to surrender before law???rather than absconding...that too an union cabinet ministers son..unbelievable..His cunning practices will come to an end.Neither his Vokkaliga factor nor his cat smile will work now in bangalore. He is not at all an mass leader nor an efficient performer.Just he went on fooling everybody that not worked well with Modi.sure he will come southcanara for next election.Nobody will believe in him except RSS karnataka.

DVS is the most useless MP/Minister/Chief Minister who only concentrated on multiplying the personal assest manifold ever since he became the CM of Karnataka.Till then he was useless but less corruption. That was the power of CM chair which made him ccorrupt and self centered person. His contribution to DK/Karnata as MP/CM/Railway Minister for short span is big ZEERO.....People veted this him this time only on one count ..that is to reach out Dear Modiji..thats all.DVS never understood Modiji and his style of admn which made him to loose Railway ministry.....DVS ,your only credit is Cogate smile which no long hold good ..at least heceforth under Modiji's cabinet. Therefore be careful....be people friendly sincerely.

I think the reporter along with some of the readers here are confused or have given their own creative versions to the change in portfolio of Mr.Sadananda Gowda.

Modi is a good administrator and knows that Mr. Gawda can do justice to the law ministry than Railways coz he is a lawyer. Moreover, Mr. Prasad is burdened with other responsibilities.
In future Sadananda Gowda will be the best person to head law ministry as we are planning to make amendments to the constitution like removal of Art. 370, implementing uniform civil code etc. The legal aspects can be best handled by a minister with qualification.

Karnataka gave BJP a base in south India but the representation in the ministry is not matches Karnataka's contribution.Railway,a important & crucial portfolio was snatched in the name of 'below performance' which is not true.If that was the case then all ministry's performance post mortem should had been done.I think DVS is an weak link and MUMBAI LOBBY responsible for this embarrassed snatch.

There might be some back stabbers for DVS.

If not, One can understand What MODI expects from his colleagues from the DVS episode. MODI is MODI. India got a leader and will go in proper directions.

All the best to DVS in his next responsibility. Kith & Kin of Ministers should be aware of what would happen to their Parents if they are not serious about or taking as granted to have relations with any ladies.
