Margao, Nov 5: While introducing herself she said she would give her best to the world. When she was crowned Miss Goa 2006, she announced with joy that, if possible, she would found a modelling school in Goa.
That was Natasha Diniz, 18-year-old girl from Sanguem, who bagged the Miss Goa title at a glamorous and exciting event organized by VJT Art Entertainment, on the lawns of Kenilworth Beach Resort and Spa, Utorda, here in Goa.
In this event Natasha Diniz was crowned Miss Goa, while Tabitha Fernandes was chosen 1st runner up. Miss Talent was Poonam Borkar, Miss Catwalk Melissa Reena Alponso and Miss Smile title was taken by Valerie Maria Rodrigues
South Indian star Sangeeta with her great performance of dance kicked off the event and thereafter all the 12 dainty dames catwalked on the ramp.
Bollywood fame anchor Priya Arya welcomed everyone to the glittering Miss Goa-2006 event.
Joe Dias, managing Director of VJT Arts, had launched this annual to give a plank to Goan girls in modelling and acting field, which, over the years, has received tremendous response. On this occasion, he took the lead and welcomed the gathering.
Exactly at 8-30 pm the show unfolded with twelve semifinalists introducing themselves to the audience on the ramp.
The ramp had been set up on the lawn of the resort and close to the beach of Utorda.
Bollywood fame personalities Suraj Thapper, Anokhi Shrivastava, lead actress of Star Plus serial "Kahin to Hoga" and Reshmi Ghosh of "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi'' were present on the occasion as judges. All of them appreciated the performance of all 12 girls and said that the event in the beautiful land of Goa made them happy.
The main pageant of the evening then began with the ethnic segment, in which all the contestants showcased themselves in the 'Ghagra choli', then in evening gown and swimming suits. After this in three segments, five girls, Andrea Sheela Fernandes, Diana Marsh, Karen Dias, Manisha Vernekar and Sawiya Fernades were eliminated.
In each segment all semifinalists dazzled the audience. In the segment of talent by performing singing, dances and laugh talks, they drew people's applause.
In the Question and Answer segment, all the semifinalists gave impressive responses to the judges.
The audience present on the event acclaimed the twelve beautiful girls when they began to catwalk on the ramp. With the flavour of music and lighting effects around there, the event got into a real atmosphere of the modelling world.
To add more colour to the event and to fill the gaps between the segments, Mumbai dancer, singer Madhurima and and dance troupe of of Sonu from Mumbai film industry entertained the audience.
Vijay Nair, a Goan comedy artiste, presented his humour talk, while choreographer Romanch Mehta, with his group performed Hindi Items
It was just a tough job for the judges to chose one of the twelve as Miss Goa, but finally Natasha Diniz with her impressive talk and answers managed to snatch the crown.
'I am very happy that I could win the Miss Goa Crown. To boost other girls in the modelling Industry, in future I will try to build a modelling school in Goa," said Miss Goa 2006 Natasha Diniz while speaking to Daijiworld.com after the event.
Miss Goa 2005 Janice Sobti was present on the fucntion.
The glamorous event concluded by 1.30 am in the wee hours of Sunday.
