Muscat, Nov 8:

Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4, the reality show that enthralled audiences not only across the GCC countries but also the entire world, a journey which started months ago in the six GCC countries, culminated in a grand manner at Al Falaj hotel in Ruwi here late night on Friday November 7.

After months of rigorous competition, hard work, regular practice sessions, and ultimately, performances that won the judges' hearts, Joshal D'Souza from UAE and Morvine Quadros from Kuwait were crowned the winners in the female and male categories.

Sana Britto from Qatar and Harry Correa from Qatar were the first runners-up and Pramila Rodrigues from Saudi Arabia and Sachin Lobo from Oman were declared the second runners-up.

The torch to host the Gulf Voice of Mangalore was handed over to Oman this year. Oman humbly took this responsibility and the world saw Oman stage the mega singing reality show in all its glory and splendor. The contest saw keen participation from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates, with 12 singers, two from each of these countries, making it to the finals in Muscat. The grand finale was a visual spectacle of sorts with dignitaries from different countries landing to witness this mega event live.

The winners received cash prize worth Rs one lac, the second winners received Rs 50,000 and the third place winners were awarded Rs 25,000. The finale was webcast live on daijiworld.com.

Ecstatic and overwhelmed with their win, Joshal and Morvine said that their joy knew no bounds.

The finale began with the judges, dignitaries and sponsors being escorted by members of the steering committee, headed by its president Stanley Fernandes. The entry and start of the event was enormously opulence with the hall echoing aloud from the bursting music management in an unique style. LED Graphics with sound and light management…, added high value to the grand entry. Clarence Pinto welcomed the august gathering on behalf of the steering committee for Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 4.
Fr Albert D’Silva, parish priest of Holy Spirit Church, Ghala led the congregation into a time of prayer, invoking God’s blessing and divine presence at the finale.

The Le Grande Hall of Al Falaj Hotel Muscat erupted in deafening applause and cheers as the audience gave a standing ovation and a befitting welcome to all the finalists as they marched gracefully into the hall with their minds and eyes on the coveted trophy. Leading the guard of honour were representatives of the MCCP Oman carrying six flying high flags of participating country’s identity of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, marching to the tune of respective country’s music further symbolizing the fourth edition of the Gulf reality singing competition. The contestants were accompanied by their country coordinators as they walked in carrying their country flag with pride, all set to make the country they represent proud.

Stanley Fernandes, in his presidential address thanked all sponsors, benefactors and all who helped make this event a success. He wished all the contestants the very best. Main sponsor for Gulf Voice of Mangalore - Ronald Colaco - could not make it to the event due to prior commitments. Nonetheless, he sent his message, which was read out by Clarence Pinto. Colaco wished all the contestants the very best and prayed to God for the success of the fourth edition of Gulf Voice of Mangalore.

It has been a tradition in Mangalore to inaugurate every function with the lighting of the lamp. To carry out this honorable tradition, Clarence Pinto welcomed on stage Lawrence Pinto, president, youth Creation centre, Kuwait; Louis Rodrigues, Gulf Voice of Mangalore Main Coordinator from Kuwait; James Mendonca, president, Mangalore Konkans, United Arab Emirates; Arthur Pais, president, Mangalore Cultural Association, Qatar; ArunPalimar and Clifford Arun D’souza, president, Aangann Konknnechem from Saudi Arabia; Henry D’almeida, president, Konkani Kutam, Bahrain; Prescilla Menezes, president, Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP), Oman; guests of honour for the function Roy Castelino, Michael D’Souza, Walter Nandalike and LigouryD’mello; Fr Albert D’silva, parish priest, Holy Spirit Church, Ghala and Stanley Fernandes, Chairman of steering committee for Gulf Voice of Mangalore-Season 4, Oman. With all formalities over, the most awaited session - the competition - began even as the contestants took their seats on the stage.

The daunting task of judging was handed over to four prominent names in the music Industry. The panel of judges for the grand finale consisted of Fr Valerian Mendonca, Ivan Sequeira, Babita D’sa and Alwyn Noronha. The judges were honoured and welcomed with a bouquets.

The choreographers Sonia D’Souza, Melanie Crasta, Priyanka and Brian Monis were honoured as well for having taken the time out to teach the dancers who put up scintillating performances. The hall was musical all through… and was lively keeping every member tapping their foot. This rendition of music was managed in an unique style from start to finish by popular MCCP Member DJ Loveline Rego.

The scores were tallied and judges chose the final three ladies and final three men who would battle it out to win the coveted title. The finalists were Voice of Saudi Arabia Pramila Rodrigues, Voice of Qatar Sana Britto and Voice of UAE Joshal D’Souza in the female category, and in the male category, Voice of Kuwait Morvine Quadros, Voice of Qatar Harry Correa and Voice of Oman Sachin Lobo.

In the final round, the female contestants had to sing ‘Valcha Wudhkak Mog Dharya So’, a famous number of Late Mic-Max. The male contestants were given ‘Saunsaranth Kithe Aasaa’ composed by the one and only Late Wilfy Rebimbus.

As the competition drew to a close and the final marks were being calculated, the judges were felicitated with mementos .The judges then took the stage and swept everyone off their feet with a beautiful rendition.

    Dear friends

Why are we fighting on silly matters ?. Of course when Daiji has given an option for agree and disagree there is no point of someone arguing why disagree or agree. Either Daiji should remove the option or people bothered of agree/disagree counts should stop commenting.

Its really miserable when great personalities are getting involved in such silly issues.its just waste of time and waste of energy...ultimately ones own image is being damaged .things will never change unless and until the next GVOM s all the contestants as winners..LOL

Finally Congratulations to all the Winners, Musicians, MC, Event Managers ,Daijiworld Media,Sound Engineers, Stage decorators and MCCP OMAN for organizing such a Mega Event without you people things wouldn't have been possible ..

    Dear Rohan,

Thanks but sorry for your worries. MCCP has taken pain from so long time to get this show staged in a fine tuned manner and the pain they took with so many hours since day one who are we to disagree ? Just I would rather request your kind self to read my first comment or anyone’s comment on this article/news. Do you agree with the amount of disagrees the comments got over here for sure more than the agrees. Y this fishy kolaveri Rohan. I never found you in any comments in the prior articles in daijiworld and you arose all of a sudden with your name but again this is not my concern. Whoever you are, you are my still community good Samaritan.

My humble request to my own Konkani Community brothers and sisters whoever visit daijiworld and press agree or disagree option. Would you mind to think a ten times if we are really for God’s sake doing a fair justice ? Giving a pain to a fellow good doer is very easy but to become a real good Samaritan is not easy for sure.

I penned what I felt true from my heart and apologize for the word that I used and killed yours or someone’s sleep. Bible words: “Kon khalto zata tho vorto zatolo”. You click agree or disagree option I have absolutely no issues. “Sovnsar char disancho. Toon khushen jiye ani pelyaki khushen jiyevnk sod”.

The issue is closed from my brain. May God bless us.

I have been watching some unwanted comments on silly issue like " agree" or "disagree". Everyone has the right to say/choose agree or Disagree as per his choice and that's perfectly fine. One cannot dance to your tunes. You people are un-requiredely making issues out of non-issue . Show restraint and calm.If you are fans of organizers of GVOM that's fine but do not try to dictate terms on others who should say agree or disagree and that's wrong. Lets end this in a nice and peaceful way.Lets be united. I hope you people will respect all.

Iam not a relative nor a friend of any of the organizing committee member.I LOVE KONKANI.My unbiased observations:- 1. In the history of Oman, the spectacular Konkani show of this kind has never taken place. MCCP has created history by raising the bar so much that we can expect similar standard in the future GVOM.
    2. The credit should go to the organizing committee for this wonderful show. Hats off to every member of the committee. Looking at the show, we can just imagine how much planning and efforts have gone into it.
    3. Without taking away the glory which the winners deserve, let me honestly say that every contestant was equally good. At times luck will favor some. Therefore, those who could not win should not take it to their heart. All audience knows that all contestants were too good. I should make a special mention of Saudi contestant who was my favorite. She was very graceful and humble touched the hearts of many. If viewers choice was there, she would have definitely topped.
    4. Without taking any name, every one involved in this show, has played their role extremely deligently.
    5. Without Daijiworld, GVOM wouldn’t have scaled this height. Thanks Walty, I have taken you to my heart. You are a true Daiji to me.
    6. I thank the 2 veterans of Kuwait whose brainchild is this GVOM. May God bless you sirs. Your GVOM is getting snow-balled into a larger show every passing year.
    7. Considering the standard and fame of this show, I feel that the present prize money is relatively less. It should be at least Rs.5 lakhs, Rs.3 lakhs and Rs.1 lakh for winner, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up respectively.
    8. I request the organizers to kindly remain undeterred by the dislikes. The dislikes are nothing but “grapes are sour” cases which shows the dementing minds. This so called ‘dislike’ group has to a certain extent succeeded in making others hold back their appreciative comments about the show.
9.I thank the organising committee for the spectacular GVOM-4.

    Lancy,
no need to use this extreme Judaas language. No body is Judaas here. No need for such harsh words. All have right to press agree or disagree as along its there.Take the comments sportively/positively. Take it easy .Your language is realy indecent and harsh. Just for putting disagree to your dislike you want to call them Judaas relatives?

    Suveer Dsouza and Henry Marties..cool.
Ther'z a saying in tulu: "Jatig Jaati Page, nayig naayi page".

One who pressed disagree to each and every comment, he/she will be in Heaven sitting at the right Hand of the Heavenly Father. They are just too good in going to different IP addresses and pressing the disagree button and then refreshing the article or the news and counting the disagree numbers. Earthworms are better than those people I say. Useless and Jobless people opt this kind of stupid idiotic action.

My humble request to the media of daijiworld, do we really need these options like agree and disagree. If 100% disagrees we get, is there any change in the final prizes announced...think about it..I am utterly writing this total frustration. Mark my words. Even if I pray R.I.P to a dead person and if there is a option of disagree I can count my disagree numbers for sure and I know them by person. Lancy Noronha, I am sorry dear. Kindly do not plead with this kind of Judas's relatives and brutal mother tongue killers but simply offer them to God

May our Konkani culture and mai bhaas live long.

Congratulations to Melody King Morvin Quadros and Melody Queen Joshal ..no doubt your performance was mind blowing and hats off to the judges for making a wise decision.

Congratulations also to the runner up contestants. Pramila you voice and singing was too good I had a guess that you would be the second runner up but anyways i respect the judges decision. In spite of living in Saudi Arabia and without proper support and guidance from the local organizers, you have done a marvelous job.I am sure unlike other GCC countries the organizers dont arrange workshops and practices for GVOM. Wish you all the best for the next GVOM.

Wishing all the very best for the next GVOM Organizers . Kindly respect and strictly follow the rules and guidelines as defined by the respected founders.

This was one of the best shows Muscat's Mangalorean community has ever witnessed. Congrats to winners and kudos to Dattu(Mr. Stanley Fernandes) and his team for presenting the grand show. Truly well organised and had the class of Bollywood shows. Nothing to complain about. 6 hours passed just like that. Every one behind this show deserves appreciation. However, Oman's voice Ms. Josma Rodrigues not among the 3 winners was a surprise.

Most heartening part of this competition was that all the singers pronounced the Konkani words correctly without making a 'kichdi' of our mother tongue.

    Long live Konkani.

Congratulations Joshal n Morvine. Well deserved. Thank you mr Walter n team for the live coverage of the programme. Really enjoyed except we missed the last part. The programme went to another level when Ms Babita Dsa, Ivan Sequeira, Alwyn Noronha sang. It was really beautiful. Hats off to everyone who organised the programme. It was really good. Joshal and Morvine both deserved to win. Harry Correa was also very good. Congrats to all winners. But one singer I really wanted to see in last stage was Bahrain's Larissa. What a amazing performance hers was !

However, Vincy's elimination was a great shocker to us. Better luck next time.

Congratulations to all winners, truly Saudi was a surprise package Pramila is really good. Watching via TV was very relaxing and enjoyed the entire program except towards the end we had little disturbances. When a kite is flying high no one can see the thin but strong thread that is carrying the colorful kite, yes this is what I see about Oman's success in organizing shows, the neatness and clarity and above all the coordination good show. The dances and costumes were very good, congrats to the Choreographers.
Larissa from Bahrain was very good, very confident and stylish singer, a little disappointed about that.

All big ideas start with a small beginning. What was started as a small step in 2008 has now grown as a major crowd puller and a great platform for the budding talents to showcase their aspirations and unleash their hidden power before the audience. Such moves will surely motivate others to follow suit. Great going Gulf Voice of Mangalore/Mangalur.
