Mangaluru, Nov 6: Students from All College Students Union protested demanding to form a special police cell against the increasing sexual assaults on students and also to crack the mysterious death case of Nanditha which recently took place in Thirthahalli.

The protest was organized in front of DC office here on Thursday November 6.

Addressing the protest, All College Students' Union president Deekshith V Shetty said "Sexual assault cases are increasing with the students and women. State government should take this issue very seriously. Government should also form a special police cell especially to curb increasing sexual assaults on students. Though several students deaths occured in mysterious ways, cases still remain unsolved. Hence government should handover Nanditha's case to CBI."

Reshal, a student from Shridevi College also said that "Sexual assault cases are also increasing on college girls. Government should form a separate special police cell to curb the sexual assaulta on women."

Memorandum was submitted to the state chief minister through the deputy commissioner.

It is understandable that people in general and students in particular are indeed concerned about the growing sexual attacks on young students. However The Police have to conform to their regulations and it is doubtful whether the demand for a special police cell is practical. Nevertheless it is expedient that the police force is strengthened to meet the growing spate of sexual assaults on unsuspecting women and more particularly students.

Jossy This is all college students protesting irrespective of organizations. ABVP has already protested long back. You only commented in one of the forum against them. You people have problem when ABVP protests also and have problem if they dont protest also.
