Mangaluru, Nov 6: Jayesh (22) who was allegedly involved with the murder of Prashanth alias Pachchu near Mangala Bar in Valencia in the city on April 7, 2013, stands arrested. Policemen from city crime branch here succeeded in finding out the hideout of Jayesh, said to be an accomplice of underworld fugitive, Vicky alias Balakrishna Shetty.
In the said case, seven persons had been arrested long back, and the eighth accused, Jayesh, had been evading arrest. Other accused, Bhavanishankar, Naveen Shetty, Praveen K P, Bhavish Pakala, Radhakrishna Shetty, Gautham alias Gauthu, and Sharan alias Rohidas were nabbed relating to this case , while Jayesh had managed to hoodwink the policemen so far.
It is said that all the above persons are accomplices of underworld fugitive, Vicky Shetty. Prashanth, working as transport manager for a concern, was slain with the help of swords at around 11.25 pm on April 7 last year at Valencia.
Jayesh, a resident of Karnataka Housing Board colony at Bondel here, was arrested from Valiyathura near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on November 3 by the crime branch police, who rushed there after getting tip off about his presence. The accused has since been handed over to Pandeshwara police.
It is gathered that Jayesh was earlier involved with the murder of Badruddin in 2011 at Brahmarakootlu. A case relating to this murder had been registered in Bantwal rural police station. Relating to this case, Jayesh had remained absent from successive court hearings in spite of issuance of summons, and the court therefore, had issued arrest warrant against him.
Of late, the policemen from the city have shown tremendous aggression and determination in nailing associates of underworld kingpins. After R Hitendra took over as the commissioner of the city commissionerate, the police have begun hounding the fugitives,particularly after city builders started to receive demands from rowdy elements for payment of Hafta (protection money).
Several associates of underworld elements, Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogesh, like Abubakker Sioddique from Mudipu, Guruprasanna Bhat Salethuru, Nitin from Karkala, and Ravi Poojary's aides from Maharashtra who were involved with Bharati Builders office shootout at Bejai, are behind the bars already. Another accomplice of the above two fugitives who has been arrested happens to be Mohammed Hanif alias Munna from Kerala.
