Mangalore, Nov 1: A case of a girl being kidnapped by a group of five people in a car was reported on Tuesday October 31 evening, from Moodbidri near here. The incident invited public ire. However on further investigation it was found that the case was not that of kidnapping much to the relief of the people.

On Tuesday evening around 6 pm, the news of a girl being kidnapped by some people who approached her in a car at Moodbidri town, spread like wild fire. The police who rushed into action immediately, intercepted a car on suspicion. The girl was found in the car with five persons. The car was on its way  from Shirtady to Moodbidri. It was only then on investigation that the real story came to light.

It was revealed that the girl who hailed from Badravathi was employed as housemaid in Alangar, Moodbidri near here. As she was not happy with the job, she had decided to quit without informing the family. On Tuesday evening, the girl was waiting for the bus to go to her home town Badravathi, when her employer learnt about her plan.

The search for the girl was on and finally she was found at Moodbidri town. The employer’s men forcibly pushed her into a car in order to take her to Moodbidri. The people who were witness to this, assumed it to be kidnapping.

The police on hearing the ‘kidnapping’ story contacted the girl’s family. It is found that the girl was taken back to her home in Badravati.
