Kundapur, Nov 3: “In1961- 1962 Maraswamy Padukone bridge could not be built due to the outbreak of Indo China war. Now it has been decided to complete it. Foundation stone laying for the same will be done very soon.” said former central minister Oscar Fernandes.
Oscar was speaking after laying foundation stone for the bridge connecting Kannada Kudru in Hemmady village in Kundapur taluk.
“Bridges not only connect people physically but also emotionally. The role of common people in the development of villages is remarkable. Byndoor should move forward with the help of development.” Oscar said.
Vinaya Kumar Sorake, the district in charge minister of Udupi district said “History was created during Oscar Fernandes' stint in UPA government as minister when the region had received Rs.12000 crores in various grants. The projects namely, Shiradi ghat road, Agumbe ghat road and Suratkal to Goa four lane were flagged off during his time.”
Sorake also praised MLA Gopal Poojary for the development in Byndoor.
Gopal Poojary who delivered the presidential address said that during the era of getting publicity without doing anything , a proper publicity is required for genuine work done. The Maraswamy Padukone bridge work will begin soon in December and Byndoor will become taluk soon.
