Mangalore, Nov 1: Manoj Kumar Kodikere, alias Manoj Thokur, an activist of Hindu Jagaran Vedike was booked under Goonda act and later taken to Dharwad jail, on Saturday, November 1.
Sources say that Manoj was asked to come to Surathkal police station. Along with Sathish Munthuru, son of former Mangalore mayor Rajani Duganna, he came to police station.
Later, he was shifted to Dharwad jail in the presence of DCP and ACP of Surthakal police station.
It is learnt that Manoj was accused in various criminal activities and murders. He was the prime accused in Kabir’s murder case who had allegedly involved in Sukananda Shetty’s murder.
Recently Mangalore city corporation member, Pratibha Kulai had alleged that Manoj threatened her by sending youths while she was campaigning for MP election in Kodikere.
Jagaran Vedike had earlier called for a bandh on Monday, November 3 with regard to the arrest of Manoj. They confirmed that the bandh would not take place on Monday. After discussing the matter in Sangha Nikethan, further actions will be taken, informed Hindu Jagaran Vedike members.
