Abu Dhabi : Mogaveer ladies, Karn Sangha men emerge Throwball champions

Abu Dhabi, Nov 1: In a thrilling and electrifying Finish, Mogaveers UAE Ladies Throwball team beat Mangalore Konkans and in Men’s Throwball final Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi managed to beat the fighting Konkans Dubai and walked away with the ISC-Arab Udupi Throwball trophies.

All the league matches were played in a very sportive sprit and referees did a good job by conducting all the matches without any controversies.

The tournament began with Sarvotham Shetty(President Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha) and also a veteran in the field guiding and managing throw balls tournament for the last 25 plus years invited the team captains for the lots and explained the rules and regulations of the league matches.





































The following teams participated in the whole day thrilling tournament in a good cool weather of Abu Dhabi on the roof top of Abu Dhabi Social and Cultural Centre.

1) K.C.O. Abu Dhabi, 2) Mangalore Konkans Dubai, 3) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha 4) Konkans Dubai 5) Mogaveers U.A.E 5) Specific Stars, Sharjah and 6) Bunts Dubai

I.S.C Sports Secretary Mathew welcomed the gathering and introduced the sponsors of the day and invited the main sponsor Shekar Shetty of Arab Udupi group of Restaurants on the dais along with ISC Hon President Natrajan, I.S.C. General Secretary Vinod, Jayaram Rai sponsor (Bin Fardan Group) and other dignitaries. ISC President declared the tournament open.

Sarvotham Shetty took over the proceedings of the tournament. First and foremost he introduced the referees of the day namely: Annet Menezes, Cynthia D’Cunha, Satish Shetty and main referee Prakash Shetty. He also requested all the participants to co-operate with the referees as they are doing a voluntary service for the sake of sports.
The first match of the day between Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Vs Bunts Dubai was inaugurated by ISC Hon. President Natarajan and Shekar Shetty (Arab Udupi)

All the teams played good games in good sportsman spirit and also all the matches were very competitive. The four teams made it to the semi-finals are: 1) Mangalore Konkans Dubai, 2) Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha 3) Konkans Dubai 5) Mogaveers U.A.E and Buts Dubai.

The following teams finally entered the Finals i.e. Mangalore Konkans (Ladies) Vs Mogaveers U.A.E and Mogaveers won the finals. In the men’s Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha Vs Konkans Dubai in which Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha came out victories.

In the concluding ceremony ISC Sports Secretary Mathew thanked all the sponsors of the event, thanked all the participants. All the referees were honoured for the dedicated service throughout the day and also ISC member who helped to organize the games smoothly and arranging venues and courts.

All the sponsors too were honoured on the occasion.

Sarvotham Shetty declared the names of the best performed players in the following category:

Ladies Team:

Best Striker: Nalini Deepak (Mogaveers, U.A.E.)
Best Defender: Sabitha (Mangalore Konkans)
Best All-Rounder: Flavia Pinto (Mogaveers, U.A.E.)
Men’s Team:
Best Striker: Toushif (Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha)
Best Defender: Anand (Konkans Dubai)
Best All-Rounder: Rajesh (Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha)

All the winning players were given away with trophies including Winners and Runners Up Trophies.

    First of all let me take this opportunity to thank India Social & Cultrual Centre for organising ISC ARAB UDUPI throwball tournament for 3rd consecutive year. My sincere thanks to all the participating teams, Refrees and supporting staff of India Social & Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi. The matches went on very cordial way and hearty congratulations to Mogaveers UAE ladies team and Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Abu Dhabi Men team. A big thanks to ISC for serving break-fast and LUNCH not only to the players but also to the spectaters and it was simply SUPERB.
