Mangalore, Oct 30: Corporation Bank has come forward with a loan offer to students pursuing distance education for which they need not provide security.

This was announced by Corporation Bank manager B R Bhat, while delivering a lecture on "Distance Education and its Usefulness" at the study material distribution programme organised by the Mangalore University Directorate of Distance Education here on Sunday October 29

Elaborating the scheme, he said that the loan amount will be remitted directly to the university and the beneficiaries may pay back after 6 months of completing the course if the student gets a job by then or after year of completion of the course. The interest rates will remain the same but they will be a little more for those already in jobs.

Chairman of department of commerce, Mangalore University, Prof P S Yadapadithaya presided. Among those present at the programme were University director of distance education Prof G V Joshi, deputy director Prabhakar and University College principal Prof Govind Naik.
