Bangalore, Oct 30: A few shoppers and businessmen at the Manipal Centre in the city had to pass through some anxious moments on Sunday October 29 evening, when an anonymous person telephoned saying that a bomb had been planted on the premises. However, the call turned out to be a hoax.
According to the police, Rajendra, a security guard at the building, received a call at the Central Hotel at 4.30 pm.
The anonymous person threatened that a bomb had been planted in the building.
Dog squads were pressed into service and after a thorough search the call proved to be a hoax.
The Ulsoor police said that as the hotel did not have a caller-ID so the source of the caller could not be ascertained.
The city police have been asking the hotels, business establishments and private firms to install caller-IDs to their telephones.
