Mangalore: Tata Indigo car catches fire at airport parking lot - no casualties

Mangalore, Oct 30: In a shocking incident, a car which was on the move near the parking lot outside the Mangalore International airport caught fire which was later put off by airport fire personnel, here on Thursday, October 30.

The car was severely damaged in the fire.











A Tata Indigo car, KA 03 ME 6237, belonging to Sri Ventures caught fire in the evening hours of Thursday outside the Mangalore International airport.

It is learnt that the driver, Raja Sheik had come to collect the daughter of the car owner and about to park the car in the parking lot. The driver was alone in the car during the incident. He saw the smoke being emitted from the car first and then the car catching fire.

The reason for the fire is yet to be established.

The airport director, G T Radhakrishna speaking to Daijiworld said the Bajpe police arrived and recorded the statements. “The reason for the fire is unknown”, he said.

The firemen of the airport extinguished the fire.

    Dhananjay, dont waste your time responding to people like Tom Cat. They are those self certified experts.
    Pictures show the firemen dousing the fire through hose pipe too.During fire incidents priority is to extinguish the fire using the correct medium, source is not an important issue.
    Tom Cat if you cant appreciate, at least shut up then.

    Dear Dhananjay, Mangalodre or what so ever you seems to be one of the airport authorities inking in supporting them, your feku statement shows that lack knowledge in fire. Being a international airport and fire in parking lot and lone fireman using the wrong fire extinguisher in a wrong way. The fire extinguisher should be aimed at the base of fire not top of fire, look at the picture. Engineers and doctors are not only people to have knowledge which your statement states. Fire knowledge is common knowledge unless you are a feku so Anjanya don’t think everyone on DaijiWorld are ajanaya like you and tree the best place.

    Don't bring your sabotage argument, it is a known fact that the low quality Nano (make in Gujarat product)by TATA's is the flop of the 21st century.
    If this is going to be the quality of Indian companies, how can we expect our honorable PM's Make in India program succeed.
    unless & untill Bharat's companies pay at par with Videshi-MNC's companies to attract & retain good quality human resources the Make in India program will fall flat.
    Pl note Gujarat is still lag behind in attracting the best brain's of Hindustan. Gujarati's basically a trader community, ask anybody who work for Gujju company, it is pathetic they pay low & exploit to the core.
    The majority of madison square gujju community is among the low class job migrants working in motel/cab driver etc.,
    Look at US companies they pay the best across the globe to attract the best brain and conquering & rule the world.

    Look how they are extinguishing the fire - with the water supply meant to water the plants. There is no fire engine to tackle fire accidents in the public area and we call it Mangalore INTERNATIONAL Airport. Ha...ha...ha...

    In India all become doctor, engineers etc. They poke their nose every where, without knowledge. Tom is one of these. Every extinguisher has its own disadvantages, specially portable Extinguishers. This type of fire have so may hidden places with high intensity. Portable extinguishers used for small fire only. We should appreciate that fireman has tried best to extinguished the same. Well Done to Airport Firemen. Keep it up.

    This was the incident happened in the airport car parking area within the fraction of second. It was a high intensity fire due to short circuit in car AC ..so they have applied nearly available extinguishing media.when the fire intensity came down after that they used water through hose..95% fire had come to control.After that airport fire crash tender rushed to the sight fire fully extinguished. There was no casualty found.

    Fuel leakage may be the cause of fire, dry powder or foam extinguisher should have been used on it.

    The fire man has used a wrong type of fire extinguisher which is Carbon dioxide which is ineffective in open space specially for A and B class fire s. Dry powder ABC type of extinguisher should have been used.
