I remember tanirbavi beach 15 years ago was pristine and the surrounding stretch was a potentially perfect tourist hotspot. Now most of it is restricted entry/parking for mrpl trucks etc..who cares about environment in India?? this is just money making scheme. This contractor takes 30%, the babus 50%, remaining 20% employed on actual work. several budgets will be passed for further restoration work...would like to see how the beaches look nest year with the 20% funds (hopefully a little clearer at the least)

In 13.7 cr what is the percentage of MP's MLA's panchayat president and members. Can DC can explain net amount to be used for development of beaches. I hope at least some good toilets in all beaches. What about Malpe beach and Maravante beach. I think DC do not have list of all beaches.

At last now people know that this is a central government work and state is not responsible.
This is the reason we have CRZ restrictions.
If it was state controlled then we should have SRZ ?
People simply blame the state government.
I think the amount is not enough even to make street lights towards the beach.

What utter Non sense is this!! In todays world what does 1 crore do develop what put one high mast lamp worth 40 laks.. We need roads not beaches ... BTW our Beach front is not popular with foreign tourist since it doesn't have the climate nor the surrounding to do so. If we need good beaches we need clean surrounding.. first of all see how dirty is Panambur beach approach road due to Out gate of NMPT which is unavoidable.. Since its Money for the nation. Not a penny from a Tourist in beach. Hope we funds for road development underground storm water drain.. Waste segregation , Solar electricity , Pedestrian walk ways , Wheel chair accessible side paths for Mangalore and to the whole mangalore city corporation not the 4 corners of Hampankatta. Hope our useless blind hooligan politicians hear this.

Hahaha.. What a joke, pure Nonsense.. Another money making scheme by the government.. Will the man Mr. Keki metha of Darashaw use the money on his horses or use it on developing these beaches, only time will tell.. And we mangalorean fools will only realize our mistake of not protesting against it, after its too late.
    3 questions I have are :
    1) Why Darashaw? Are they into development, have they have a proven record in any kind of tourist development?
    2) when and why and where was the tender put up by the government? Why isn't any information available on the net?
    3) what happened to the tender that baikampady one? What about the 15% profits that was suppose to be shared with the government? Where is the money from all those stalls at panambur and tannirbhavi going?

We should only feel happy about the '' headlines'' and '' breaking news '', finally after a few years we only get '' babaji ka tu##u''.

It is a good step in developing or giving a face lift to our beaches.

Time is ripe to improve Tourism industry to attract outsiders/foreigners in these areas. Also, considering the fact that the moral police/culture protectors bother or attack partners sitting together in the public, the authorities have to pay due attention in the direction of security aspects for those who enjoy beach facilities.

Grant for facelift of Mangalore beaches is good.
Hope good work happens, if part of the money goes for margin from contractors then quality of work will suffer.
Facelift will be like wedding day make up after few days all tax payers money spent will be washed out!
We live in hope, and hope that won't die in despair!

Excellent opinion Saihu-Udupi Dubai, can not agree anything more. There should be committee to oversee quality and progress where civil engineering professors of major DK engineering Colleges should be involved along with consumer forum members so that swindling would be minimized. Scope of work should be published and we readers too should have access to this copy. Daiji, please take initiative!

Does anybody knows what is been approved, did any body got the copy of proposals, may be center has approved the beaches to be upgraded in Dubai beaches style (http://www.daijiworld.com/news/news_disp.asp?n_id=272544), when all the commissions are paid the contractor who will construct the works will do only 'thepe'works only. Please guys make a civil society team get the copy of actual works sanctioned by the center government and make a team of watchdog who will monitor the works to make sure the works completed is in accordance with the works specifications and drawings worth of at least 10 crore ( leave 3.t crore for commissions)

will be very interesting to see what would be the face lift . 1 crore is a big amount for a small stretch of beach like ullal. It can be made real good if there is definite planning and monitoring . Or we cab guarantee and shabby concrete work on the beach making it a mess of the beach
