Mangalore, Oct 28: “We can reach our goals in life through prayer. We should consider it as our duty to make our children grow in religious values”, said Dr Aloysius Paul D' Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.
He was speaking during the golden jubilee celebrations and mass wedding ceremony held at St Jude church, Pakshikere, here on Tuesday, October 28.
He was the main celebrant of golden jubilee mass celebration and mass wedding ceremony.
The bishop felicitated the parish priests, assistant parish priests, nuns, founder members and former vice-presidents who have served the parish for the last fifty years. The donors were also felicitated on the occasion.
Bishop then handed over the house key of the new house for the beneficiary woman in the remembrance of golden jubilee celebrations. Bishop Paul also released the current issue of 'Yatrik' a church magazine. Bishop Paul was also felicitated on the eve of golden jubilee celebrations.
In the mass wedding, Vijayadka resident Melwin and Philomena from Vitla, Bajal's Martin and Tallur resident Eve, Damaskatte resident Jaison and Pakshikere resident Maria, Niddodi's resident Lawrence and Sunita tied the knots.
Kinnigoli region chief priest, Fr Vincent Monteiro, priests from the area and outside the state and Pakshikere Church welfare committee vice-president, Vincent D' Souza were present.
Pakshikere St Jude pilgrim centre chief priest, Fr Andrew Leo D' Souza welcomed. Convent-head, sister Sheebha and Zeeta Cutinho introduced the recipients of felicitations. Pakshikere Church assistant parish priest, Patrick Sequeira proposed vote of thanks. Church welfare committee secretary Lucy D'Souza compered the programme.
