Udupi, Oct 27: Two dead bodies of Kaup beach tragedy who had gone missing after drowning in Kaup beach on Saturday evening, October 25 were found in Udyavara- Padukere area on Monday afternoon, October 27.
Locals had saved Harischandra and Prajwal from drowning but Jagadish Rao (38), Sunil Rao (33) and Harsha, Bangalore (14) were missing. Later, the dead body of Jagadish Rao was found after an hour of the incident.
Among the 18 people of a single family who had come on excursion for Deepavali on October 25, five people had got down in the water and drowned. A search operation was on for the dead bodies of Sunil Rao and Harsha since Saturday evening.
Udupi deputy commissioner S S Pattana Shetty, district police commissioner, P Rajendra Prasad, additional deputy commissioner Kumar, ASP Annamalai, home guards commandant Dr Prashanth Shetty and Udupi Tahsildar Guruprasad had come to the place on Monday morning and conducted inspection.
Coastal Security boat found the dead body of Sunil Rao at Padukere near Udyavar. The body was then taken to Malpe shore. The dead body of Harsha was found later. Both the bodies were brought to Malpe sea shore and later taken to Udupi Ajjarkadu hospital mortuary.
Opposition leader in the assembly, MLA Sunil Kumar, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, Dakshina Kannada fish marketing federation president Yashpal Suvarna and hundreds of people present at the place saw the search operation of the district administration. Hundreds of policemen from Udupi, Kaup, Padubidri and Shirva were deployed for search operation.
Deputy commissioner S S Pattana Shetty expressed his condolence to the bereaved family and said that the incident at Kaup beach was shocking. He said that a life saving guard will be deployed soon at the beach. The locals or outsiders will be appointed as life guards. The tourists will be warned by mike through Kiosk booth.
