Karkala, Oct 28: An 8-year-old school boy who was on his way home after the schooling hours was run over by a Maharashtra registered lorry at Cholpady near Kabettu here on Friday October 27 afternoon.

The deceased boy has been identified as Darves Gous (8), son of Darvez Firojullah Shah of Cholpady.  He was the student of Salmara Urdu School here.  On Friday afternoon he was on his way to his house after school hours, when a recklessly driven lorry knocked him down.

As a result, Darves sustained serious injuries to his hands and legs.  Alongside he also sustained critical injuries in his head.  Though he was admitted to government hospital here, he succumbed to the injuries later.

Karkala town police have registered a case in this regard and have also arrested lorry driver Anil Gouli.
