Mangalore, Oct 27: The annual cultural celebrations organized by Sumasaurabha, a local Kannada fortnightly were inaugurated in the Town Hall here on Friday October 27 afternoon.
The celebrations were inaugurated by Shri Rashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur here while well-known senior yakshagana artiste Perla Srikrishna Bhat presided over.
Thinker and writer Jayadevappa Jainakeri, Shimoga delivered a lecture on the occasion. Noted poet and writer Dr Rajashekhar Jamadandi Hosapet, Dr Devdas Rai, president of IMA, Mangalore, businessman M Rameshkrishna Shet and Ratnakar Rao, editor of Vajranetra magazine were the chief guests on the occasion.
A yakshagana "Kumara Vijaya" was staged by noted artistes on the occasion. The programme will go on up to 10 pm on Friday.
The winners of Saurabha Award-2006 will be presented awards on November 28.
