Mangalore, Oct 27: In a house break- in reported from Suratkal, thieves have walked away with goods worth Rs 1.5 lacs on Saturday night.

The house broken in at Munchur behind NITK hostel belonged to a lady named Nazia Tabasssum.

The thieves used the kitchen door to enter the house. It is believed that through the nearby window they managed to open the door latch.

The stolen items included four bangles, two chains, a pair of earrings weighing around 52 grams and also Rs.25000 cash.

Only in the morning at 3 am the occupants of the house came to know about the theft. Nazia’s son had just left for a foreign country for a job on the same day.

Little earlier there was an attempt to break in a house belonging to a Pramod in the same area. But the people were woken up by noise when the thieves were opening the door by a pickaxe. The same thieves might have visited Nazia’s house after that.

Suratkal police have registered the case.
