Mangalore, Oct 26: Rosario Youth Movement (RYM) of Rosario church organised inter-parish football tournament 'Rosary Cup' on the occasion of centenary year celebration(1915-2015) here on Friday October 24, at Rosario School Grounds, Mangalore.
Area corporator Abdul Latif inaugurated the tournament by kicking the football. The parish priest of Rosario church Fr.J B Crasta and RYM president Sharol Monteiro joined the corporator to inaugurate.
Corporator Abdul Latif in his inaugural speech said, " Whichever the game is, winning or losing is not important. Participation of everyone is main. You can improve your sportsmanship if you are well behaved in the society."
On this occasion Gerald Furtado, former football players of Rosario church were felicitated and mementos were given to the dignitaries as a token of remembrance.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. J B Crasta blessed the occasion and as well as wished the participants to give their best. "Let us all play the football in a good spirit." he added
Kasim was the referee for the tournament. Sharol welcomed the guests.
Floral welcome was given by Gladson Monteiro to the guests. There were total 14 teams and FIFA rules were implimented for the tournament.
Semi final and finals will be played on Sunday October 26.
