Anti-drinking warning in films not correct way: Aamir Khan

Mumbai, Oct 24 (IANS): After putting statutory warnings over smoking scenes, the Censor Board has now introduced anti-drinking warnings in scenes where actors are depicted consuming alcohol. However, actor Aamir Khan says there are other ways of conveying this message.

"I feel the creativity of the film should not be affected. I don't think this is the solution as it spoils the creativity of the film.

"The audience are paying money and coming to watch the film, so they should not get disturbed. Either put out a message before or after the film, that's fine. I don't think this is the correct way of going about it. There are other ways to convey this message," Aamir Khan said.

Adding to this, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said: "I feel attention gets more attraction and it has a reverse effect. Youngsters can get more rebellious as it will be counter-productive."

The first Hindi film to get such an insertion will be "Happy New Year" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, which releases Friday.
