Mangalore, Oct 25: Art and music transcend the barriers of language religion and social status and they unite mankind. It is therefore very important that we promote these talents among our children so that they learn to live in harmony in these turbulent days, said former Mayor and the trustee of Sandesha P M Castelino.

He was speaking after inaugurating Suvarna Karnataka Kalotsava 2006 organised by Sandesha at the Sandesha premises in October 25.

The state-level Kalotsava, a children's festival of arts and communication skills will continue upto November 1.

Dr Na Da Shetty, Head of Kannada Department of St Aloysius College, Mangalore who was the chief guest, stressed the need of discovering the hidden talents in our younger generation and fostering them through competitions like Kalotsava. He also praised Sandesha for organizing this cultural festival on the occasion of Suvarna Karnataka.

Fr Francis Lewis, Director of Sandesha welcomed the gathering. Amrit Raj and Shwetha compered the proceedings. 

Galdin D'Souza, Anitha Samson and Ravindra Prabhu were the judges for the competitions held in the morning. Melwyn Peris, Dr Prashanth Raj and Roshan Crasta were the judges for the afternoon session.
