Bangalore, Oct 21: A grant of Rs 250 crore each has been sanctioned for taking up road repairs in northern and southern districts of Karnataka, Public Works Minister H C Mahadevappa announced on Monday.
Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, he said roads were damaged owing to heavy rains in the State and repair works would be taken after the rainy season.
Currently, some parts of State have been receiving north-east monsoon, he said.
The Minister visited the State Congress party office and said a blue print has been prepared for upgrading Bangalore-Mysore State Highway into National Highway.
Directions have been issued to department officials to prepare a plan for developing Bidar-Chamarajangar National Highway, he said.
Meanwhile, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said names of BPL cardholders would be displayed before all public distribution system outlets to weed out fake cards.
The public can lodge complaints with the authorities against those whom they see as "ineligible persons" holding BPL cards, he said.
Dinesh GunduRao also visited the party office and said the department would give award for identifying families holding duplicate BPL cards.
During the last one year, seven lakh fake cards have been detected, he said.
