Showbiz has taught me patience: Vatsal Sheth

New Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS): Actor Vatsal Sheth entered the TV world as a teenager with the show "Just Mohabbat". The light-eyed boy of the small screen has now grown up and says that "the one thing he learnt during all these years in the glamour industry is patience."

After failing to make a mark in Bollywood with films like "Taarzan: The Wonder Car", "Nanhe Jaisalmer", "Heroes" and "Hostel", Vatsal has returned to television for his second innings as a negative character in serial "Ek Hasina Thi". Now, Vatsal has found success on the small screen again.

He is seen as the spoilt brat Shaurya Goenka in the show, which revolves around a woman's fight for justice. Vatsal ditched his boy next door image for the show as he "wanted to try something different."

"I was offered a negative role for the first time in my career. I thought it is a challenge and I should take it up," Vatsal told IANS.

Going for an image makeover onscreen is easier said than done. Agreeing with it, Vatsal says "it took a while" for him to say yes to the role.

"I don't have any characteristics that are usually associated with a villain. Like I am not tall, broad-framed or have any scars on my face," he said.

Nevertheless, Vatsal's performance is being appreciated and the actor credits his hardwork.

"I had no idea about how to do this role, but my focus was that I did not want to do the regular stuff. Hence, I sat down with the directors and writers to understand the role better," Vatsal said.

"The response to the show is very good. Initially, my fans used to ask me why I was doing such a shady role. But now I can say that my fans have accepted me as a villain," the 34-year-old actor added.

Meanwhile, Vatsal has put Bollywood on hold.

"I am very busy with the shoot of 'Ek Hasina...' and have not taken up any other projects," Vatsal said.

The weekly show is aired on Star Plus.
