Udupi, Oct 19: The first district Gamaka Sammelan was inaugurated here on Wednesday October 18. The Sammelan was organised by the district Gamaka Parishat, district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Directorate of Kannada and Culture, Mahakavi Lakshmisha Vedike ad MGM College here.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Kolhar Kulkarni, president, Karnataka Gamaka Kala Parishat, said that Gamaka should be introduced in primary and high schools and stated that the parishat would urge the government on the issue.
He further said that the parishat would organise a training camp for teachers shortly.
The all-Karnataka Gamaka Sammelan is scheduled to be held in December at Kudala Sangama in Bijapur district, he said.
