Puttur: Cattle trafficking – four held

Puttur, Oct 15: Uppinangady Assistant Sub Inspector of Police, Sanjeeva Rai, with the assistance of some other personnel from his station, intercepted a tempo carrying buffaloes which were loaded
in the vehicle in an inhuman manner and arrested four persons on Tuesday October 14. The incident occurred at Hirtadka village near Uppinangady.

Six buffaloes were found crammed in the said tempo. Policemen on patrol duty had noticed the said tempo. Initially they were under the impression that it was carrying pilgrims. On a closer look, they realized that the tempo was loaded with cattle.

The policemen confiscated the vehicle and registered a case against Thomas Monteiro, Praveen, Anand and Manjunath in relation to cattle trafficking. The cattle were being taken to Kasargod from Hassan, it is said.
