Beltangady, Oct 18: An incident where a mother committed suicide along with her two sons, took place in Mithila Nagar near Dharmastala here on Tuesday October 17.

Vijaya (32), wife of one Anand Gowda, gave poison to her two sons Abhijeeth (4) and Abhishek (7), before consuming it herself. While Vijaya and Abhijeeth died, Abhishek was survived as he received treatment in time.
 
Anand and Vijaya had been married for eight years. While Anand is an electrician, Vijaya was working for Dharmastala Rural Developement Project.

The couple had developed some differences of late.  Hence Anand had made Vijaya quit her job. Depressed by this, she used to often tell that she would commit suicide.  However, neither Anand nor anyone else in the neighbourhood bothered about this.

Though all the three were rushed to a local hospital, Vijaya and Abhijeeth died, while Abhishek was taken to a hospital at Mangalore, where he managed to survive.

A case has been lodged in the Beltangady police station in this regard.
