Mangalore, Oct 13: “The existing night patrolling to maintain law and order in the district will soon be converted into Electronic Beat system”, said Dakshina Kannada SP S D Sharanappa.
He was responding to a request made by a dalit leader to take measures to stop unpleasant activities in the district at nights during a meeting of Backward Class and Backward Tribes held at the office of police commissioner, here on Sunday, October 12.
“Electronic beat system is not new to the district. It was implemented in 2010 but had to be discontinued due to significant reasons. The system will be started with new technology within a month”, said Sharanappa.
“Ten to fifteen centres will be identified in police station limits and reader machines will be installed in those centres. The constables in duty will be issued electronic cards. They will have to compulsorily swipe the cards on the machines and go. While the readings will
indicate at what time were the constables present at the centres, they will be also made responsible for the untoward incidents that occur at that time”, he added.
The menace of false job offers has increased in the district. The unemployed youth get trapped in those nets easily. The people looking for jobs should verify the offers in mobile, emails and newspapers carefully and know about the companies properly before proceeding further, he requested.
