Udupi, Oct 2: Two youths who sent a love letter to a minor girl were manhandled by the public, later to be arrested. The incident took place at Katpady on Wednesday.
The arrested are Mohammed Shoib (21) and Sajib (23) both from Uttar Pradesh.
The duo worked for a furniture shop in Katpady and stayed in a rented house.
Sajib wrote a love letter and asked Shoib to deliver it to the innocent girl who is studying in 9th standard. When the girl was passing by their place in the school vehicle, Shoib threw the letter into the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, who was alert, saw this and stopped the vehicle to chase the culprit. The onlookers also helped the driver in catching Shoib. They manhandled him till the police arrived.
Later the police arrested the writer of the letter Sajib.
The minor girl’s mother complained to the police. Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act 2012 (Posco).
The Katpady residents have requested the police to keep a database of migrant workers who have become nuisance to the society. Many offenses committed by the migrants have been recorded in the recent past.
