Udupi, Oct 1: In a bike and mini lorry accident, the bike rider lost his life on the spot.
Jayanna Acharya (42) from Laila Belthangady is the deceased.
The accident took place on the Karkala Padubidri road on Dheen Street of Padubidri on Tuesday September 30.
The deceased, a wood crafter by profession was on his way to Karkala foron some work and was carrying goods to a temple. He was staying in Mangalore in a rented house for the past ten years and visited his hometown once a week. He had just visited his family members including his elder sister on Sunday for celebrating Navaratri.
The rider survived only for a few minutes after the accident as the injury to his head due to the impact of the accident was severe. Onlookers said that it was a very tragic to see the state of the deceased’s head after the accident. All this happened because of the
negligence of the mini lorry driver.
There are others also to be blamed like the government authorities and the contractors who are least bothered about the state of the road. They dig up the roads at their whims and fancies. They seldom complete the road work in a stretch. Whenever there is road work, no
notices are pasted on the road. In some instances traffic from both the sides are allowed on a narrow road.
RNS, the company involved in the road work, its engineer and the mini lorry driver have been booked under various acts of road safety. Padubidri police are investigating.
The deceased’s brother later revealed with sadness that the deceased was planning to get married soon and were planning to visit the bride’s house this weekend.
