Kundapur, Sep 30: “The government has taken action and issued legal notices against poor people who are developing their 40-50 cents land without permission and has failed to do the same to rich people whose bungalows are valued at several crores”, said former CM Jagadish Shettar.
“These poor people are staying in slums and the present government is allegedly trying to displace them from their small piece of land”, he added.
“The government has failed to inform the reality to the court in the right time and it is ironical that it conducts survey at the last minute. Our struggle against the anti-people and anti-farmer policies of the government will continue”, he further said.
Speaking to reporters in Kundapur, he said that protests were already held in Udupi against these notices. “We are protesting against injustice meted out to poor people. The strange policies of the government have made 8 to 10 thousand ration cards invalid”, he said.
“Taluk panchayat system cannot be eradicated by statements. If they are concerned with developments, let them increase the subsidy. We have always fought for the poor people and will continue to fight for them”, he added.
BJP block committee president Rajesh Kaveri, members of Town Municipal council Mohandas Shenoy, Satish Shetty, Udaya Mendon and Raghavendra Devadiga were present.
