Mangalore: Two brothers convicted for drug peddling

Mangalore, Sep 24: Two brothers have been convicted for drug peddling by the Principal District and Sessions Court Judge on Tuesday.

The convicts are Mohammed Rafeeq (30) and his younger brother Abdul Gafoor (28).

The judge Uma M G sentenced the duo from Katipalla to two years of rigorous imprisonment after finding them guilty of possessing and peddling ganja. They were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) act 1985. The duo was also slapped with a fine of Rs.10, 000 each.

The brothers were arrested by the then Suratkal Police Inspector K U Belliappa and his team when they had raided a house in Katipalla to find 2,240 grams of ganja on July 5, 2010.
