Beltangady: Fellowship sports trophy held at Naravi Church

Beltangady, Sep 23: A fellowship sports trophy tournament was held at St Antony Church grounds, Naravi on Sunday September 21.

Fr Louis Cutinho, chief priest of the church, who presided over the programme said during the inauguration ceremony that sports are useful to live a life of communal harmony. He blessed and wished well for the tournament.

Srinivas Kini, former APMC member inaugurated the tournament by letting free pigeons as a mark of peace. He said that Naravi Church is well-known for communal harmony and wished that the sports tournament may help to live as one without differences of religion, caste or creed. Panchayat president Laxmi, Sr Gratia, Rohan and Mable were present as chief guests.

Programme convener Fr Arun Wilson Lobo welcomed the gathering. Assistant convener Anil Roshan proposed the vote of thanks. Santhosh Saldanha compered the programme. Jayanth Kotian, members of taluk panchayat, Stany Pais, businessman Krishnappa Poojary and panchayat vice president gave away prizes to the winners and wished them well.

The games consisted of Kabaddi, Volleyball, tug-of-war for men and throw ball and tug-of-war for women. The tournament was conducted under the aegis of the church sports committee and ICYM.
