Three arrested for possessing deer meat in Goa


Panaji, Sep 23 (IANS): Three people were Monday arrested by the Goa forest department for trying to sell 50 kg of deer meat in a village near here, an official said.

A forest department spokesperson said the three people - Amol Naik, Ashish Bandekar and Shantaram Naik, all in their mid-20s - hail from the forested village of Pernem in north Goa.

They were arrested in Siolim village, 30 km from Panaji.

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.
