Panaji, Sep 29: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and the Communist Party Of India (CPI) organized a rally in the city to mark the Centenary Year Celebrations of 'Shaheed' Bhagat Singh.
Bhagat Singh (September 28, 1907 - March, 1931) was an Indian revolutionary, who, also along with his associates, fought agains the British rule.
He is considered one of the most famous martyrs of the Indian freedom struggle. For this reason, he is respectfully referred to as Shaheed Bhagat Singh (the word 'shaheed' means martyr).
He is also believed by many to be one of the earliest Marxists in India and has a high place of honour in the Communist Party of India (Marxist) circles.
He was one of the founders of the Hindustani Socialist Rupublican Association.
