Bangalore, Sep 17: The name of P Nagaraj, a director of Bangalore Urban, Rural, and Ramanagara District Cooperative Milk Producers Societies Union Ltd (BAMUL) is understood to have been finalized for the post of the president of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).
There have been many contenders for this prestigious post and a tough bargaining by several leaders, Nagaraj has emerged as the front runner for the post which was vacated with expiry of term of previous incumbent, Somashekhara Reddy of BJP.
The election for this post is being held on Wednesday September 17. As 11 milk producers unions out of 13 functioning under KMF are under the control of directors owing allegiance to the Congress, it will be a cakewalk for Congress, it is being analyzed.
It is gathered that there was a tussle for supremacy for the said post between M P Raveendra, president of Bellary Milk Union and son of former deputy chief minister of Karnataka, M P Prakash and P Nagaraj. It is said that after the two sides sat and discussed the issue, they came to a conclusion to share the presidential term between themselves for 30 months tenure.
Although the leader from Bellary insisted on becoming the president for the first term, it was decided at the end to give the post to Nagaraj, as the previous man from Bellary was in charge of KMF for the last five years, it is said.
