Mangalore, Sep 26: Veteran freedom fighter Ammembala Balappa will be felicitated by residents of Bantwal at Brahmashri Narayan Guru Hall on Oct 2.

This was informed by Honorary President of the felicitation committee A C Bhandary in a press conference on Monday.

Former Union Minister George Fernandes will felicitate the senior freedom fighter.

A book on Balappa edited by S V S College Lecturer Tukarama Poojary will also be released on the occasion.

Litterateur Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, Administrative Reforms Committee Chairman Veerappa Moily, In-charge Minister for the district B Nagaraj Shetty, MLA Padmanabha Kottari, ZP President Mamatha Gatti, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy President M K Seetharam Kulal will be present on the occasion, Bhandary said.

Balappa who has had actively involvement in the Quit India Movement also brought out first Tulu newspaper ‘’Tulu Siri’’ in the district.
