Bantwal, Sep 15: Senior advocate from Shimoga, M R Satyanarayana accused Diwakar Shastri and Premalata of being driven by the sole objective of character assassination of Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapur Math.
He was addressing the members of Havyaka community at Mani Peraje unit of Ramachandrapur Math in the taluk on Sunday September 14.
His address was intended to keep the community members abreast with the recent developments on the matter.
Members of Havyaka community from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasargod districts were invited for the meeting which was held under the aegis of the managing committee of the Math branch.
“We know the driving force behind the initiatives undertaken by organizations including Komu Sauharda Vedike which are speaking in favour of the arrested accused. The only aim of all these vested interests is to force Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji to relinquish the seat he occupies as the head of Math that has rich heritage. The other aim is to force him to give up control on Gokarna temple. To achieve these objectives, the conspirators and Premalata together seem to have weaved a fabricated story”, he added.
Satyanarayana reminded people that policemen in no way can apply different sections of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of fabricated stories with wrong facts and false information. “Even after the director general of police accepted the demand for probe by the criminal intelligence department, some police officers, bending under the pressure of unseen hands, had tried to register cases against the Swamiji that are totally irrelevant, with the sole aim of arresting him”, he said.
He said that heaping criticisms on anyone is an easy task. “How many of the detractors of Swamiji have taken note of the way in which the Swamiji has been working to conserve rich traditions, heritage, spiritual prowess, ideals, socially relevant activities, guidance for the creation of an ideal society etc? Why have these people not shown any interest in bringing out the deceitful functioning and irregularities with which Diwakar Shastri and Premalata are involved in it? Why public debate and discussions on these issues were not organized?” he further questioned.
He also advised people and media to learn to respect religious leaders who are selflessly serving the cause of righteousness and social welfare.
A number of stalwarts like M B Muliya of the board of trustees, B G Rama Bhat, president of the federation, Dr Y V Krishnamurty, Kollur temple priest and Vedamurty Govind Adiga were present at the meeting which was attended by about 8,000 persons.
K T Venkateshwara Nooji and T R Sureshchandra Kalmadka also spoke on the occasion and gave additional information. T G Rajaram Bhat delivered introductory address. Secretary of Mangalore Havyaka Mandala, Seraje Subrahmanya Bhat were present during the meeting.
