Mangalore, Sep 25: Work on the construction of a visitors' gallery at the Bajpe (Mangalore) airport will be completed shortly.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken up construction work on the top of the existing terminal building to house the visitors' gallery, a restaurant and administrative offices.
The director of the airport M R Vasudeva has told that AAI would make efforts to complete the visitors' gallery by October 3. The flight service between Dubai and Mangalore should also start on this day.
The gallery could accommodate 150 to 200 passengers at a time. There would be seating arrangements and provision for drinking water at the gallery. Visitors could obtain the prescribed pass and watch the landing and take off of planes. As the gallery was on the top floor of the terminal building visitors could clearly watch the landing and take off of aircraft, he said.
According to him, the new air-conditioned restaurant adjacent to the new visitors' gallery would be opened by October 3. Vasudeva said the construction of administrative complex also on the top floor (near the restaurant) would take some more time.
The commercial, finance and other administrative sections of the airport would be housed here to enable better co-ordination among the administrative wings of AAI.
