Mangalore, Sep 14: At the 26th annual general meeting of MRPL, chairman D K Sarraf, announced the annual audits of the company for the financial year 2013-14.

The company made Rs 601 crore profit after tax for the financial year 2013-14.

He addressed the press and asked, “It gives me extreme delight to announce that the company has processed 14.59 million metric tonnes (MMT) which is the highest ever and has posted an annual turnover of Rs 75,226 crore which is also the highest ever. The company has been upgraded to the status of schedule ‘A’ CPSE with effect from July 4, 2013, by the department of public enterprises (DPE).”

Sarraf said that all the achievements have come at a time when the Indian rupee has touched the exchange rate of Rs 60 = 1 USD and the country's GDP growth is below 5 percent for the second successive year.

Projects on the verge of completion:

He said that one of the most anticipated projects of the company—the polypropylene project(PP)—will be completed by December 2014 and will be ready for 100 percent progress from the New Year.

The company has also taken up refinery performance improvement which will try to minimize hydrocarbon emission and increase the efficiency of the plant.

Reaching out to society:

The company will set up a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Trust to reach out to the needy from its gain. “Since the company was under loss last year we were not able to undertake CSR activity under our own name but in the name of the parent company. Hence, efforts will be made to speed up the work at Lady Goschen Hospital.”

Managing director of the company H Kumar and company official Vishwas Agarwal were present on the occasion.
